Google Pixel and Pixel XL are flagship phones arrived in October 2016 with pre-installed Android 7.1 Nougat OS. They have received two major upgrades, Oreo and Pie in 2017 and 2018 respectively. The next and last major Android upgrade for these flagships is Android 10 Q.

Actually, Pixel 1 and Pixel 1 XL life cycle of android updates already ended but the Search Giant decided to rollout another major update for these remarkable flagships. Four Betas of Android Q are already available for the registered original Pixel series users.

According to Google’s official roadmap announced in March, the Android Q final edition will come out in somewhere in August 2019. So Android Q will rollout over-the-air for original Pixel and Pixel XL users, most likely in middle or late-August, around in 40 days from now. Factory images of Android Q will be available for download on the official website as soon as Google has pushedout the final version of Android Q.

Carrier locked Google Pixel 1 and Pixel 1 XL devices will receive the update no longer after unlocked devices. So most probably by the end of September, all carrier locked original Pixel devices will have received the Android 10 update, according to tech analysts.

We recommend users of original Pixel and Pixel XL to charge upto 80 percent before downloading the update, as Android Q is a massive update to install. Users better connect to a good strength Wi-Fi or Mobile network before downloading to prevent interruptions. The Users can check for updates manually by going into Settings > About Phone > Check for Updates.

The tenth anniversary edition of Android is coming with many remarkable features like system-wide dark mode, improved Privacy, location sharing options, Messaging Bubbles, refined Gesture navigation with back sensitivity, updated Digital Wellbeing with parental controls, Focus mode, live captions, Face ID authentication, critical updates through Google Play and many more.

Unfortunately, Android Beam feature is removed from Android Q, so Pixel users won’t see Android Beam feature after upgrading to Android 10.

We will update this post soon as soon as Google post any updates regarding Android Q. So please bookmark this page and keep visiting.

Update on 8/8/2020 :

The final cum sixth Beta of Android Q is now live, Google announces the last Beta of the upcoming Android update, few hours ago. The rollout for Pixel series and Essential Phone has just begun and we are digging inside the latest Beta to know what’s new. Till now, we find no notable changes except the Back button sensitivity option as rumoured earlier. The user interface has been polished and it seems nice compared to the earlier Beta.

In Beta 6, users can find a gear icon besides the Gesture navigation option in System navigation section in Settings menu. On tapping the icon, users can adjust the Back sensitivity through a slider. Other minor changes in the Beta 6 include Darker Autorotate button at the bottom-right corner of the screen, new Emergency button in the Power Menu. Google posted in the official blog that there will be no major changes in the final version of Android Q apart from fixing of any bugs if discovered. In a few weeks, the final version of Android Q and its code name will be announced.

Update on 11/7/2020 :

The Search Giant has released the fifth Beta of Android Q with some remarkable improvements few hours ago. Notifications got many changes in this Beta over the previous one. Users can snooze notifications now by going into Settings>Apps & notifications> Notifications>Allow notification snoozing. Snoozing of Notifications has gone in Beta 4 but arrived with an option to enable in this Beta.

Lockscreen notifications is another new feature in Beta 5. Users can customize notifications on lockscreen to any “alert and silent notifications” or “Silent notifications” or hide them. The latest beta includes other minor refinements like dark boot screen for Pixel devices, new Gesture for launching assistant and so on. The OTA rollout of Beta 5 began few hours ago but Google pulled down the rollout shortly after due to unknown issues.
