LG started rolling out the Android Pie rollout for V40 ThinQ flagship few weeks ago. In the US, AT&T and T-Mobile recently begin rolling out the Android 9 Pie update for LG V40 ThinQ devices and now unlocked variants join the party.
LG officially updated its webpage stating that the version number of Android Pie update is V405QA20a. It seems that the OTA has been rolling out for a few days as My LG Cell Phones reported the OTA of Pie on June 17th. So the users of V40 can expect the update notification any moment or manually check for updates by going into Settings > System Updates > Check for new system update. The users can also update their devices by installing LG Bridge software on computer and connect the device.

The size of the update is about 1.8 GB and comes with May month’s security patch. So we recommend users to charge atleast upto 80 percent before downloading the update. We also recommend to connect to a strong Wi-Fi or Mobile network before downloading, since the update is a huge one.
The update includes main features of Pie and new LG UX skin. The changelog hasn’t revealed much about the features of the update.
The key features of Android Pie are Gesture based navigation, Adaptive battery, Adaptive brightness, App actions, Digital wellbeing, Text and Image selection in overview, dark theme and many more
The next flagship devices to receive the Pie update are LG V35 ThinQ and V30 ThinQ unlocked editions. We hope these devices will get the Pie update very soon.
